AEP Ohio, Duquesne Light, Duke Energy, Ohio Edison and Others: Power Outages

The remnants of Hurricane Ike caused major power failures across Indiana, Ohio and Pennsylvania this weekend.

AEP Ohio, Duquesne Light, Duke Energy, and Ohio Edison (FirstEnergy Corp.) all have over 100,000 customers without power across Indiana, Ohio and Pennsylvania. By clicking on the links provided above, customers can find information about their energy provider and when they expect service to resume.

75 mile per hour winds across Indiana left 110,000 Duke Energy customers without energy as of Monday morning. Ohio Edison reported 188,000 customers without power after 60 mile per hour winds hit Ohio's Mahoning and Shenango valleys. Elsewhere in Ohio, AEP Ohio had more than 270,000 customers in the dark after their power lines were destroyed by Ike. 105,000 Duquesne Light customers were without power last night. Duquesne has since lowered that number to 60,000.

In addition to the links above, AEP Ohio customers can call 800-277-2177 or 800-672-2231 to report power outages or a downed power line. If you see downed power lines, keep away and make sure children do not wander towards them as they might still be carrying a dangerous electrical charge.
