Allergic Conjunctivitis Treatment

November 30, 2008 Conjunctivitis represents an inflammation of the conjunctivae,-the mucous membranes that are covering the white of the eyes and the inner side of the eyelids. It affects both eyes, spreading from one to the other in short time( 1-2 days).
There are known several immunologic hypersensitivity reactions and types of conjunctivitis, such as:
-Bacterial conjunctivitis;
-Viral conjunctivitis;
-Chlamydial conjunctivitis;
-Allergic conjunctivitis;
-Reactive conjunctivitis/ chemical or irritant conjunctivitis.
Allergic conjunctivitis include:
-Seasonal and perennial allergic conjunctivitis
-Vernal keratoconjunctivitis
-Atopic keratoconjunctivitis
-Giant papillary conjunctivitis
Allergic conjunctivitis represents a serious problem, depending on the symptoms severity and the lengh of time passed since the first signs of the disease. It is associated with intense itching of the eyes, manifesting itself especially at particular times of the year, usually during spring and summer, caused by the pollen in the air.
Early diagnosis and treatment allows the doctors to identify the responsible allergies and remove the inflammatory reaction that caused the conjuctivitis.Developing a good hygiene of hands and face plays a major role in prevention of conjunctivitis.
Allergic conjunctivitis treatment is developed in order to prevent conjunctivitis side effects and complications, including the spread of the infection inside the eye, ears or pharynx.
The most common type of pharmacologic intervention treatment includes the use of antihistamine drops and Corticosteroid drops, such as Sodium Cromoglicate, in order to relieve acute symptoms, prevent the allergic response and remove the source of allergen.
The use of an antibiotic against allergic conjunctivitis eliminates the risk of transmitting it to others. Antibiotics effect can be noticed from the first day of treatment, getting better gradually in a few weeks.
Artificial tears can improve the treatment, acting as a barrier at the level of conjunctival mucosa.
Vasoconstrictors, such as naphazoline, phenylephrine, oxymetazoline, and tetrahydrozoline, act as a temporary solution for the short-term relief of the vascular injection and redness.
Mast cell stabilizers, such as lodoxamide (Alomide). Olopatadine (Patanol), nedocromil (Alocril), and ketotifen (Zaditor), are used in order to prevent the membrane changes and the decrease in degranulation of mast cells, having as a result the increase of the resistance against the exposure to the allergen.
The first symptoms are relevant and it is necessary the clean of the eye with a compress that was dipped into a glass filled with boiled water and salt. The eye will be cleaned from the external angle to the internal one.
Another allergic conjunctivitis additional treatments include Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, Corticosteroids( rimexolone, medrysone, and fluorometholone) and systemic and/or topical antihistamines.

One injured in road accident. CHITRAL: As well as one person injured in road mishap while 4 saved miraculously at Sheshikoh road some 45 KM from here. According to detail a jeep bearing registration number CL 362 was on its way carrying firewood from Sheshi valley at Sheshikoh road. When it reached to under construction hydropower house an other vehicle was coming from opposite side. As the road is very narrow the loaded jeep was reversing to give safe passage to the other vehicle but due to dilapidated condition and big ditches in the middle of the road it upturned as a result 4 person including driver Jamta Khan entangled inside the jeep. Hence local volunteers recovered out the people besieged inside the jeep safely but one Sher Zaman injured by fracture his finger. Reason behind the road accident is telling deteriorated condition of Sheshi road that is very narrow and having no sidewall or parapets wall toward River and deep ravine. Residents of the area have appeal Federal and Provincial government for black topping, winding and construction of parapet wall on this road because it pass on the bank of Sheshi River which is hundred of feet deep and a ravine throughout the road. So many people have been died in road accidents on this road. Hundred of students deprived to appear in examination of AIOU. As thousands students from Chitral appearing each year in different examinations for different courses of Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) Islamabad. They pay their registration and admission fee and appear in prescribed examination after issuing them Roll No slip and Admission Card from Islamabad office through postal mail. Hence postal mail is transportation through PIA flights that is subject to weather condition. In case of cancellation of PIA schedules flights communication of postal mail also suspended. Similarly in same situation students had paid their admission fee for spring semester of 2008 courses (CT, BA, M.A, PTC, B.Ed, etc) and were waiting for their roll number slip to appear in their examination but nor they were issued roll number slip from examination department of AIOU nor they were informed by AIOU regional office at Chitral despite that examination has been started from Nov, 20. it is worth to mention here that there are so many areas in Chitral where there is no internet facility for downloading online roll No. Slip from the University website. As a result so many students were deprived from appearing in examination. Two or three papers were missed due to no communicating them about their examination. As this is national level university and was rendering service to million students but due to these tactics and malpractices of its staff especially staff of local regional office its image is badly suffering as it loosing its image and confidence among the students. Students of Chitral have appeal president of Pakistan and Vice Chancellor of AIOU Islamabad fro giving them a chance to be appear in examination of missing papers without paying its fee again. They also appeal for conducting an inquiry in this regard that why students of Chitral were not issued their roll number slip nor they were informed by regional office of Chitral. Separate Examination Hall demanded for female candidates. Female students of who are under process different courses from AIOU are appearing in their examination hall combined for male and female students. Hence feeding babies are also badly suffering whose mothers are busy in exams in presence of male. The AIOU has shown examination hall at Govt. Centennial Model High School in their Roll No slip but students have been adjusted at Govt. Primary School Chitral where male and female students appearing jointly. Female students of Chitral have appeal to high ups of AIOU and examination department for arranging a separate examination hall for them so as to enable them to appear in their examinations without any hesitating and disturbance due to presence of boys students.
