Jammu, Sept 20, :  Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangarsh Samiti (SAYSS)  declared that it will support those candidates in the ensuing Assembly elections who are the men of integrity and can fight for cause of Jammu.

Convenor of Sangarsh Samiti Leela Karan Sharma told reporters in Jammu though Samiti is a non political organization and it will not contest elections on its own but it will support all those candidates who are honest, have a killing spirit, good educational background and watch the interests of Jammu region.

Accusing the Government for adopting dilly dallying tactics in issuance of formal orders for allotment of land to Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB), he said we have information that Governor’s Advisory Council has approved it but we have some apprehensions as the Government was adopting delaying tactics in issuing orders.

He also warned that in case such an attitude of the Government continues the Samiti can review its agitational programme as it has only suspended the agitation and not called off the "This was also conveyed to Principal Secretary, Home, Anil Goswami ", he added.

Asking the people to remain vigilant against those who represented them in past and were responsible for the present plight of Jammu people, Mr Sharma said these were 12 MLAs from Jammu who signed the Constitutional Amendment on Delimitation in 2001. "Had the MLAs from Jammu shown respect for the sentiments of the people of the region this would have never happened", he added.

He said under the prevailing circumstances there is no way out for delimitation of constituencies so that Jammu will be at par with Kashmir Valley which has 47 seats in Assembly.

"If Governor through an Ordinance orders the delimitation of constituencies but that is also limited upto six months and after that it has to be ratified by the Assembly with two third majority which is not possible", he said.

Terming it a grave injustice to Jammu, Mr Sharma said that a Jan andolan (peoples movement) needs to be launched against this injustice and if this will not be from SAYSS platform but there can be another platform which can lead such a movement, he added.

He also announced that Samiti is organizing a function to felicitate the families of 11 martyrs tomorrow at Abhinav Theater and each family will be paid a cash award of Rs four lakh besides one person who lost his both eyes in the police action will also be paid Rs four lakh as cash assistance on the occasion.
