Apple iTunes made user-friendly for the blind

WATERTOWN, MA (GroundReport) - Cory Cadlik, who is blind, needs help when he wants to buy songs for his iPod from Apple's online music store iTunes.

For Cadlik, who describes himself as a tech ''geek,'' depending on someone else to listen to music was intolerable.

Cadlik, 17, of Medway, Massachussetts told The Associated Press, "'For me to be as tech savvy as I am, and not be able to do something ... I hated it.'' Adding,. ''I had one iPod. I got rid of it.''

After Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley made a deal with Apple Inc. to program iTunes so that it would be accessible to the blind, Cadik is making plans to get his iPod back.

''You had no access before,'' Cadlik was quoted as saying, adding, ''then this came out ... I said, 'Wow, this is great, this is awesome.'''
