Cyclist Alice Swanson, 22, Struck and Killed in DC

Alice Swanson, 22, was struck and killed by a garbage truck while cycling in the Dupont Circle area of Washington D.C. this morning.

The company operating the garbage truck that struck and killed Alice Swanson is KMG Hauling Inc. No charges have been filed.

A helmet found near the crash site implies that Alice Swanson was taking necessary safety precautions. Unfortunately a helmet was not enough to save her from a collision with a massive truck. This is the first cycling-related death in Washington D.C. this year.
