Ebony Garcia Dead After Saturday Night Stabbing, Segundo Penafiel is Suspect

Ebony Garcia was stabbed to death inside her Queens apartment on Saturday night. Police are searching for Segundo Penafiel, her ex-boyfriend who has a history of violence and abuse.

Ebony Garcia, 21, ran into Segundo Penafiel, 25, outside of a nightclub early on Sunday morning and left with him at around 1:30 a.m. Garcia phoned family members, telling them that she was frightened because Penafiel was in her apartment. Garcia's aunt contacted a New York City Police dispatcher to report that her niece was being beaten.

When police arrived at Ebony Garcia's 121st St. apartment, they found her in a pool of blood with numerous stab wounds, clinging on to life. She was rushed to a hospital and pronounced dead two hours later.

Police report that a neighbor heard Ebony Garcia crying out for help for thirty minutes but thought she was drunk and did not call police Ebony Garcia leaves behind a 3-year-old daughter. Segundo Penafiel is still at large.
