FAO calls for review of biofuel policies

Food and Agriculture Organization has called for an urgent review of biofuel policies for world food security and rural development.
The State of Food and Agriculture 2008 Report published today emphasizes on protecting the interest of farmers and sustainable perspectives of development.
FAO Director-General Jacques Diouf said,“Biofuels present both opportunities and risks.”
He noted that current policies tend to favour producers in some developed countries over those in most developing countries.
