Gorkha Janmukti Yuva Morcha tries to undo its own folly

KALIMPONG, 23 SEPTEMBER: “The next time any antisocial elements try to discriminate and subjugate Marwari business community in Kalimpong, Gorkha Janmukti Yuva Morcha will take stringent action against them,” said Gorkha Janmukti Yuva Morcha Kalimpong Branch President Topden Bhutia. The branch President and the working President Nima Tamang along with Gorkha Janmukti Morcha Central Committee member Bijay Sundas had gathered in the Kalimpong market to break down the locks put on the doors of different shops and homes owned by Marwari Community. The locks had been previously put on by some of the members of Gorkha Janmukti Yuva Morcha who had gone around threatening the Marwari Community. The same members of Gorkha Janmukti Yuva Morcha have now been declared as ‘antisocial’ by the Gorkha Janmukti Yuva Morcha.

All the locks on the houses and shops of the Marwari community which were forcibly closed down, were broken down by the office bearers of the Gorkha Janmukti Yuva Morcha, who put on new locks and handed over the keys to the owners of the same. In the same event, the Gorkha Janmukti Yuva Morcha office bearers also broke the lock put on the shop of one Miss Anjani Agarwal whose shop had been used for 16 years as a Branch office by the Gorkha National Liberation Front without paying any rent and later locked by the members of the Gorkha Janmukti Yuva Morcha. After receiving the keys Anjani Agarwal was overwhelmed.

Meanwhile a controversy broke out among the cadres of Gorkha Janmukti Yuva Morcha as the blame for the fiasco was hurled upon Basant Singh, the now suspended former branch chief of Gorkha Janmukti Yuva Morcha, who in turn accused Nima Tamang, the present working president to have called on the cadres to lock business shops and houses owned by minority community in the town. Nima Tamang has vehemently disowned and challegened the allegation made by Basant Singh.

In today’s India the saddest part of politics is that the politicians play the game of hatred and Bimal Gurung is no different. You make people suffer in Hills by various agitations and brain wash the people that for everything West Bengal Govt. responsible so that people start hating the govt. and to some extent even Bengalis. This is the strategy the Politicians of the Hills adopt to gain more popularity. Ghisingh did it and now Bimal Gurung did it. They very well know that Gorkhaland demand is unacceptable in the current format and current Indian condition by which every party that comes to power in the Centre. The people in hills totally fail to realize the game and get flown away with emotions and gets deceived by the leaders. But erasing the name of Govt. of West Bengal from the govt. offices what does GJM wants to prove. They want to show they people how great they are and invite some govt. action so that people starts hating the govt. more for their action and more and more people come to join their movement. If the govt. shuts down all the offices where ever they write the govt. of gorkhaland instead of resisting with the help of any force, what is going to be the circumstances, can anyone imagine that? If offices like PHE, PWD, Health Depatment, Hospitals, police stations, treasury, etc indefinitely gets closed do GJM realize what is going to happen?
