Habib Mian, one of the longest-lived people ever, has died at the age of 138 at his home in Rajasthan, India. He was born in 1870 and retired in 1938 at the age of 68 and has been receiving pension ever since.
Habib Mian was not recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the oldest person ever to live but, if his 1870 birth date is correct, he lived 16 years longer than the current record holder, Jeanne Calment, a French woman who died at age 122.
Habib Mian outlived his wife by 70 years and finally succumbed to a brief illness. He was a relative celebrity in India and many mourners attending his Jaipur funeral.
