Holocaust Cartoons Mock Victims

TEHRAN – Iran has released a highly controversial book of cartoons mocking the extermination of Jews during World War II.

Titled 'Holocaust', the book seeks to cast doubt over the massacre of over 6 million Jews during Adolf Hitler's brutal dictatorship of Germany.

Student members of the Basij militia close to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad wrote the book.

One of the cartoons depicts a man on a hospital bed draped with an Israeli flag, being sustained on deadly Zyklon-B gas which was widely used in death camps.

The launch of the book marks this year's Qods Day, which calls for Israel to liberate Jerusalem.

Ever since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, Iran has refused to recognize Israel's sovereignty. It refers to the Jewish state instead as a "Zionist regime".

As part of Qod's Day, state organized rallies against Israel were held all across the country on Friday.
