Hundreds flocked to the presidential residence

Hundreds of people flocked the presidential residence in Dhapasi, Nepal to receive Tika (Vermillion powder) from the first President of Nepal Dr. Ram Baran Yadav, on the occasion of celebrating Vijaya Dashami on October 9, 2008. After the fall of the Monarch, early this year, the tradition of receiving tika from the head of state seemed gone where the first president of Nepal took the charge and openly announced to offer tika to the general public. Including the list Parmananda Jha (Vice president), Bamdev Gautam (Deputy prime minister), government officials and common people received tika from the president. According to the president, "The festival season stands as a symbol of truth where the celebration plays crucial role in unity. We should be united, creating a better environment of brotherhood and peace.” Likewise, the Ex-Monarch Gyanendra and his Queen Komal also offered tika to interested people after 4 PM from their residence at Sheetal Niwas.
