Iran Test Fires Satellite Rocket

It seems that after Iraq it is Iran's turn to grab the attention of America with its actions.

On Monday,Iran said that it had sent a home-built rocket into space.This would raise US concern over the possible use of this rocket to take a satelite into low orbit around the earth.

Though Sunday's launch was a dummy one,Iran's Defence Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar vowed that Iran will soon put its own satellite into orbit.These developments add to international concerns about Iran's nuclear programme,which Western nations fear could
be a cover for its ambitiousness to build an atomic bomb.

Iran's State television said the Safir (Ambassador) rocket is capable of putting a ‘light satellite into low earth orbit’.

Meanwhile discussions related to these developments have already started making an

appearance in White House.“The Iranian development raises further questions. This action and dual use possibilities for their ballistic missile programme have been a subject of IAEA discussions” White House spokesman Gordon Johndroe said.
