Lowari Pass to Chitral Blocked Again

Chitral,N.W.F.P: The only passage to Chitral, a northwestern rugged terrain of Hindukush, is blocked again today.

The Lowari Pass, which had been closed for a couple of days due to snow, was cleared for light traffic yesterday. After great efforts, the National Highway Authority (NHA) made it possible for the light traffic to pass, but the weather conditions remained unpromising and the Lowari pass, which is 3200 meters long, is once again blocked.

This is the only road that links Chitral to the rest of Pakistan and bad weather  often causes flights from Peshawar and Islamabad to Chitral to be suspended for weeks.
