New York's West 53rd Renamed 'U2 Way'
U2 Way covers a section of street near the Ed Sullivan Theatre, home to Letterman’s late night show, which is located on the intersection of West 53rd Street and Broadway. U2 is appearing on the show five times this week, the first time a band or artist has spent the entire week as a musical guest.
This is the second time the band has taken over late night television; it was the only guest on the Oct. 6, 2005, episode of “Late Night with Conan O’Brien.”
U2 performed for the first time last night, playing “Breathe,” off their new album "No Line on the Horizon," which was released Tuesday. They will play a U.S. stadium tour this summer, their first since 1997.
