One Day workshop on Human Rights for Govt. Officials



One day training workshop on Human and Women rights for Government Officials.


 


CHITRAL: A one day long training workshop for government officials  of the entire district was conducted here in a local hotel organized by Easy & Equitable Access to Justice Program of Women of Chitral funded by TROCAIRE (  A donor agency of Ireland). Lawyers of human rights and activists explained and explored human rights and trained them to how protect human rights and to stop human rights violation. The participants were given task in group working to raise main issues of human rights violation and its possible solution. The participants complained selling of substandard quality medicines in local market which should to be stopped immediately. They also complained of Tehsil Municipal Administration for failure in cleanliness and sanitation system. They alleged that more than one hundred staff of TMA is getting their monthly salaries but most of them are not perform their duties as a result Chitral town presenting a Heap of garbage look.


 


The participants also hailed sky rocketing prices of essential commodities and termed food department responsible for this situation and demanded that official of Food department may not be involved in price control committee. It should to be control directly by District Nazim and DCO. They also complained of unemployment ratio in the district and shortage of girl’s school as a result in some remote areas there is Combing Education system where young girls are reading in boys schools. The participants complained of non availability of waiting rooms for female in courts territory.  As well as there is no female Judge or a female lawyer in the district to trial/process the cases of women folk. Besides it there is no toilet for women in courts area. The complained of shortage of potable drinking water in the district.


 


The participants demanded for supply of electricity to hospital for 24 hours and demanded from District Police officer to direct police force for discouraging narcotics. They also came under fire PESCO (Wapda) for unscheduled load shedding. The participants urged on improvement of lady health workers program for health education and supply of free medicines to poor segment of the society. They also demanded for opening of handicraft center at each union council for giving equal opportunity to women folk to gain their livelihood easily and to save them from suicide. They also demanded for special quota for women folk in employment in all departments. The speakers urged on distribution of any developmental fund through local community for transparency. The participants strongly condemned a lawyers who file a case of rupees 15000 against his client who had approached to courts for his 5000 rupees through this lawyer who later on demanded for 15000 and in case of non payment of his fee the client was arrested by local police. The participants demanded for detailing of volunteer groups in each valley and village who communicate any human rights violation case to this organization.  A large number of government officials including Miss Agathe of Switzerland (A foreigner human rights activist) participated the training workshop.
