Pres.Elect Barrack Obama: "A New Dawn in American Leadership"

Washington, DC (GroundReport) - It's official folks. According to emerging news reports, Barack Obama is slated to be the 44th president of the United States of America.

And decidedly so. With a 270 electoral vote count required to take the White House, Obama is estimated to have a minimum of 338 electoral votes. McCain trails with 156. For more details on the count, visit http://election.cbsnews.com/election2008/

The projected victory comes on the heels of wins in battleground states Ohio, Florida, Virginia, New Mexico, Colorado, Nevada and Iowa - as well as a victory in Pennsylvania.

"Because of what we did on this day, in this election, in this defining moment, change has come to America," Obama was quoted as saying in a CBS News report as 125,000 supporters convened in Chicago's Grant Park to celebrate his victory.

"If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible, who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time, who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer," he added.

"A new dawn of American leadership is at hand," Obama said, reports CBS News.
