Prof. Amitabh honored with Honorary Prof. for life by the Islamic University of Science $ Technology

September 17, 2008 Prof. Amitabh Mattoo, Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the Jammu University (JU) and Dr. Haseeb Drabu, Chairman J&K Bank have been made Honorary Prof. for life by the Islamic University of Science and Technology, Avantipura, Kashmir.
The decision was taken by the University's Executive Council at its meeting on the university campus in Kashmir today.
One of the leading thinkers and writers on international relations, Prof. Mattoo earned his doctorate from the University of Oxford. He has been visiting Professor at Stanford University, USA, the Joan B. Kroc Institute of International Studies, University of Notre Dame and the University of Paris. Prof. Mattoo will deliver two lectures every month at Islamic University of Science and Technology on "Global Politics: A Critical Perspective."
Professor Mattoo said: "I am honoured by the offer . I was recently inspired by the eminent educationist Agha Ashraf Ali who advised me to provide critical ideas on world affairs like Noam Chomsky does in the United States. He told me 'you have achieved every possible ambition at a very young age. It is time now to go back to the world of ideas.' I look forward to lecturing at the Islamic University, which is turning out as one of the best institutions in the state."
Dr Drabu is a leading economist and financial wizard and will lecture on global economic issues at the University.
