Russian hats in London
Russian hats are extremely popular during the first Russian Maslenitsa 1 of March in London.
Russian Maslenitsa came to London. People gathered at the Potters Fields Park to celebrate the end of winter in a Russian way, the rite which survived from Pagan time up to the end of Soviet. The main is to burn the ugly doll of Winter and to eat round, yellow pancakes looking a bit like Sun. And you have to drink as well, to keep warm, cause in Russia winter is really cold.
Nothing was burnt in London that day. But Russian music, food, drinks and souvenirs attracted lot of Londoners. There were lot of traditional small puppets called Matreshki. Soviet flags are still for sale... But Londoners are fond of Russian hats. Winter, military and revolutionary hats....
