This is just another form of cold war, I think. Russia earlier start test fire of its ICBM RS-12M Topol as an counter shielded missile which is being installed yet by United States in Polland region earlier. This test fire was successful launching from Cosmodrom Plesetsk, North of Russia and travelling for 6,000 km to the target at Kamchatka Peninsula in eastern of Russia. Russia claimed that it will be installed to counter if one of the US shielded missile is crossing and fall on the land. Russia might used it’s own shielded missile if one of the ‘naughty’ countries ICBM across their land.

More About the ICBM

The Topol rs-12 m is the former Soviet Union built ICBM – Intercontinental Ballistic Missile back to 1990’s. It has about 23 m of length and 2 m of diameter. It’s 47,300 kg of rocket thrust able to carry 1,000 ~ 1,200 kg of payload to the air and deliver to the desire target at the range. More than 500 Kt of single warhead can be carried on its nose. Up to 6 warhead can be carried on its nose. It’s able to travel for 11,000 km before thirst its rocket fuel. It uses three stages of rocket with solid fuel on each of stage.

The ICBM carried on the mobile launcher vehicle. It can be deployed anytime and anyplace along its path and doesn’t need any well prepared terrain. Russia’s now owned 48 missiles including the system and mobile launcher vehicles. Mentioning 70 mores will on the purchasing list in the future.

Since the cold war ended, Russia only have one type of multiple reentry vehicle well known as a SS-N-18 Stingray. But since the withdrawal from treaty, Russia started to invent new and production more MIRV which capable to carry multiple warhead at the same time on the ballistic which can cause a huge damage and width to the target. In rumours that United States and Russia had ended the joint corporation in the nuclear project since the Georgia and Russia conflict.
