Thilini creates a niche in the history of Srilankan Badminton

Until she selected for the Beijing Olympics, she even not known to many in the Srilankan Island and moreover to the world.

Badminton player Thilini Jayasinghe has become the first Sri Lankan woman to qualify from the sport for Olympic Games.

Thilini was selected on performances at 10 international meets where she ranked 45th from a total of 48 contestants who will represent their respective countries at the Beijing Games in August.

Srilankan Telecom announced that it is going to sponser the Thilini Jayasinghe for the Beiging Olympics and the Preparation that she is going to take for her career.

Currently she is at the Tata Padukone Badminton Academy, Bangalore (India) as an Olympic training base.

She also told that she is groomed for the 2012 Olympics and this Olympics should be an experience for her target.

The 23 Old year old Thilini is in lime light until she got selected for the Olympics.

Thilini told the reporters,"Like me so many unknown talents are hiding from due to lack of support and co-operation and also no encouragement fromt he sponserers."
