Today's Parents Are Poor Role Models For Their Kids

July 01, 2008 Parents are thought of widely as being a child's guiding light. But a study has dampened this belief. According to the study parents are responsible for their kid's lack of basic moral values.
The extensive study has been carried out by researchers at the Children's Scoiety in Britain. They found out that children aren't acquiring basic moral values nowadays because today's parents are themselves poor role models.
During their study the researchers questioned 1176 people. They found that two thirds of the adults believe that moral values of young people have declined considerable since the time they were young.
Also the growing popularity of celebrity culture and weakening family bonds are doing much damage to traditional moral values among the young population.
The study also says that the adults are also to be blamed as they have failed to engage with children and being more ready to criticise their behaviour than intervening and helping them to sail through the challenges of modern life.
Bob Reitemeier, the CEO of the Society, says adults should take up more responsibility for the young. They play a vital role in the development of children and hence have a critical part to play in the same.
