UK University apologised to China for honoring Doctorate to Dalai Lama

 A premier British University apologized to china for honoring Doctorate degree to Dalai Lama. The University took the step when Chinese student and Chinese media warned University for boycotting.

London Metropolitan University honored Dalai Lama with Doctorate degree in May this year for of his “outstanding achievements in promoting peace and for his inspirational spiritual guidance”.

Vice Chancellor of the University Brian Roper recently visited the Chinese Embassy for expressing his regret. He also asked for forgiveness if the move hurt feeling of Chinese.

He said he will not take back the degree from Dalai Lama.

Pro-Tibet group was not happy with this move of University. They blamed Chancellor for pandering to the China as the major part of revenue comes from Chinese Student.

According to Norman Baker, president of Tibet group,The decision taken by Vice Chancellor is regrettable. He also mentioned that China occupied Tibet illegally and Chinese authorities abuse Tibetans.Source Times of India
