Ugly Graffiti Adorns Baguio City’s Landmark

One year before the centennial celebration begins; Baguio City officials has yet to fully restore the former beauty of Burnham Park, the city’s prominent and most visited landmark. The pitiful condition of the park can be seen in its entirety, from pollution, clogged drainage and badly managed football field and uncollected garbage to ugly graffiti - the handiwork of youthful junkies roaming around the city.

Worse, the engraved slab proudly displayed and attached to a column honoring the great American Architect Daniel Burnham did not escaped from the ugly graffiti of junkies. The vandals spray-painted it with vague letters only junkies and gangs and fraternities understand.

The desecrated tablet was just too obvious for people to see while visiting the park. The shameless graffiti totally defaced the proud history of the city that no one from the authorities even bothered to take a look given the fact that the preparation for the centenary had just began months ago or so.
