Vinod Mehra's Daughter in Films
On the steps of her father, this lively adolescent is making an incursion into Hindi Film Industry. Soniya Mehra doesn’t have many tender memories of her late father, actor Vinod Mehra. She was just a child when her dad died. However she has heard many accounts of him by her mother Kiran Mehra. And Soniya says that ever since she can remember, she wanted to act in movies, like her father.
Soniya was brought up in Kenya. She started learning dancing when she was just 4 years of age and stick together to London Academy of Music and Arts when she was nine. By the time she was in her youth her mind was resolutely made up to join Bollywood.
Essentially, Soniya is skilled in theatre acting. But when she came to Mumbai she joined Anupam Kher's acting school to learn the nuances of film acting. It was Anupam Kher only who referred Soniya’s name to actor-turned-producer Kamal Sadanah when he was seeking an actress for the remake of ‘Victoria No. 203’. The original movie was palyed by Naveen Nishchal and was based on a House.
