Aquatic snails as pets

         Many people when they look around for pets, usually go with a cat or dog as pets, while skipping the other choices. A cat and dog are the traditional household pets that most people take. But some people around this globe look towards the companionship of snails. Believe it or not, there are many people who choose snails as a pet.

        The type of snails these people tend to keep are called aquatic snails. Most of the time they in the aquarium waters but can live outside of water for short periods of time. The type of aquariums that these snails are most comfortable in are the tanks with the open tops or with large gaps in the lids. These simple creatures add a lot of nostalgia and detail to their owners aquariums.

        One of the many types of snails are the "Pomacea Canaliculata" otherwise known as the canas. These snails tend to be an entertaining group of snails that are often called "apple snails". They get the nickname because of the large size they grow into sometimes. These snails come in a variety of colors including a golden frost, olive, and sometimes striped.

       One of the main things a person should examine is the size of their tank and how many snails they want. A major rule with aquatic snails is that different snails have different requirements when it comes to space. They are excellent janitors when it comes to them eating extra debris which includes dead plant life, dead fish remains and uneaten fish food.

        In the end, it's pretty plain and simple as to why people with fish collect these amazing creatures with an assortment of beautiful shells. It's not only good for the aquarium but also the intriguing colors will liven up any household.
