BDR Mutiny: Update

A home minister spokesman said today that the national inquiry committee into the BDR killing got just four more days to submit its result after seeking a week's extension. The body was supposed to turn in its findings today. The deadline was earlier extended twice. Earlier on March 9, the home ministry gave the committee seven days to complete its job.

Meanwhile hundreds of family members & relatives of Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) soldiers staged a sit-in demonstration at the entrance of the BDR Headquarters today. The demonstration started at 12:45pm & ended at 5:30pm. Their demand was to meet their family members who are now kept inside the headquarters.

A Dhaka court sent 154 border guards to prison on Sunday, by different charges including sedition & murder, in the BDR mutiny case.

Of late, some unnatural deaths of BDR soldiers were reported. Another BDR man died on March 17, after reportedly falling ill at BDR Head Quarter.
