Bhalla take stock of the facilities of KP migrants at Vassu, Hall



 Srinagar, May 24 (Scoop News) –Minister for Revenue, relief and Rehabilitation,  Raman Bhalla on Thursday said that Omar led government is very much keen for the rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandit Migrants in the Valley with respect and dignity. He said in this connection the Centre and State Governments are making every effort for providing them residential and other facilities. However, he said in this direction more steps are being taken under the Prime Ministers rehabilitation package.


The Minister was addressing a large gathering of Kashmiri Pandit Migrants at Vassu-Qazigund while taking stock of the facilities being provided to the Migrant Employees staying here by the Administration of Kulgam and Anantnag Districts.


Referring the problem of the shortage of quarters raised by the employees, the Minister said that Government is very much alive of this problem and added that in this connection orders for the construction of more 60 quarters have already been issued and the work on the construction of these quarters will be started soon and will be completed by the end of July. He said 50 quarters are ready to accommodate the employees after some minor renovation work in the next month. He said that Rs.15.33 crores have already been released for construction of these quarters. The Minister on the spot issued instructions to the Executing agency SCIOP for construction of approach roads from national highway to quarter premises for conveniences of the employees.


On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag, Farooq Ahmed Shah, Deputy Commissioner Kulgam,  Jehangir Mir, Deputy Commissioner Phulwama  Shafat Noor, Chief Engineer, PDD,  Muzaffer Mattoo, SE, PHE, Senior officers of SCIOP, Congress leader,  Hilal Shah, and other concerned agencies were present.


             Bhalla while issuing directions to the Deputy Commissioners of the both the concerned districts to look personally the grievances of the migrants employees. He also directed the Chief Engineer Power Development Department to resolve electricity problem on priority. The Minister also asked the Deputy Commissioner, Kulgam for settling down the transport problem of the employees.


            Meanwhile, both the Deputy Commissioners of Kulgam and Anantnag assured the Minister that they will look into the matter personally and provide possible help for their convenience.


            Responding to the demand of migrants regarding scarcity of safe drink water facility in the camp, the Minister said that Government has already sanctioned construction of water supply scheme at a cost of Rs. 1.62 crore in the areas which would also cater the drinking water facility of Camp inhabitants, adding that construction work of tube well at the site have taken up.


The Minister directed concerned Deputy Commissioners   to ensure that no encroachment should be taken on migrant property in these areas. He said complaints in this regard received by the Government should be looked into priority and encroachment if any be evicted henceforth.  


            Later, the Minister also took stock of the facilities are being provided to the Kahmiri Pandit Migrant Employee presently staying at newly constructed Quarters at Hall-Pulwama.


            The Minister was accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner, Pulwama, ACR, and other senior police and district Offices.


            On the occasion, the migrant employees put their problems particularly of the shortage of accommodation where presently 106 employees are putting only 63 quarters.


            The Minister assured them that their genuine problems will be solved on phased manner; however, he maintained that this is a transit accommodation and they have to shift their own residential houses. However, he asked the Deputy Commissioner for provide medical facilities to the employees. 


            The Deputy Commissioner assured the Minister that their the genuine grievances will be redressed and in this connection a number of steps have already been taken.
