Congress will not play a role of B team in coalition: Vakil

Srinagar, June 17 (Scoop News) – Former Minister and AICC member Abdul Gani Vakil has said that Congress is quite a relevant force in Jammu and Kashmir State and those undermining it were living in an illusion. He said the significance of Congress party is Jammu and Kashmir is associated with state’s peace and prosperity for which many political leaders and workers have sacrificed their lives. In this context playing a role of B team in the present coalition does not arise. Congress had always been on the forefront when it came to the development, restoration of peace, prosperity of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing a meeting of Block Presidents and workers of Budgam District in Srinagar. Vakil said there is a need of strengthening Congress at all levels for which party leaders and workers will have to play a bigger and much stronger role in days to come. He said Congress party has always worked for equitable development of all three regions of Jammu and Kashmir State and will continue to do so in the larger interest of people.

Unfortunately, busy in political maneuvering the ruling elite is not giving more attention towards the development sector.

Vakil while addressing appreciated the recent announcement of special package by Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad for upgradation of health care but expressed concern that till today no step has been taken to utilize the funding and people must know the steps taken by the government in this regard and stressed upon the government to utilize the funds in such a way that no more human lives are lost in the G.B Panth hospital in the near future. It is worth mentioning here that  Azad announced thirty seven crores for SKIMS, six crores for G.B Panth Hospital and six crores for SMH Hospital

Referring to the continuing strike of government employees, Vakil said government must not adopt harsh tactics to suppress the voice of workforce and instead bring them on the negotiating tables. He said employees were demanding regularization of daily wagers, removal of pay anomalies, and budgetary support for PSUs and arrears for corporations, must be negotiated with.

Besides others who expressed their views include Sr. Congress leader MLC Haji Ali Mohammad Bhat, General Secretary J&K PCC Dr. Abdul Ahad Yatoo, and Block Presidents Abdul Gaffar Dar, Master Ghulam Rasool Bhat, Ghulam Mohammad Dar, Ghulam Nabi Parwana, Ghulam Ahmad Lone and many others.
