Controlling Zonotic Diseases at Chitral
Two days refresher training program held on Bio Safety Zonotic disease Reporting & surveillance for members of district zonoses control committee under live stock for life project.

CHITRAL: Two days refresher training program on Bio safety zonotic diseases reporting and surveillance for district Zonoses control committee held under life stock for life project organized by Relief International (RI) district Chitral. Dr. Riaz district program Manager of RI briefed aim and objectives of his organization as well as about this two days training workshop. He shared a case study of Leishmania in Chitral as well as a dog bit patient who were provided full doze of Anti Rabbis vaccine and full treatment free of cost. He said that we also donated 160 doses of ARV to district health department to be vaccinated dog bits patients. He said that RI conducted sensitization training for butchers, media persons and students of different schools at 5 union councils in its pilot project at Chitral. And now we will continue our awareness raising campaign within 5 more union councils regarding zonotic diseases to be preventing public from these diseases communicable from animal to human and from human being to animal. The participants recommended for deputing a veterinary doctor at Lawari tunnel for checking animal carrying from down districts to Chitral for slaughtering purposes to be checked and issue fitness certificate regarding no disease in these cattle. They also emphasized on district administration to bound all butchers working at Chitral to get fitness certificate from health department clarifying that butches have no communicable disease.
They also urged on Divisional Forest officer for controlling duck hunting and to assure either they causing bird flu swan flue or not?. The participants also visited local market as exposure visit and analyzed butchers and poultry shops and expressed their great concerned over by ignoring hygienic measurement at these shops. The team comprising over District Health Officer Dr. Nazir, Medical Superintendent of DHQ Hospital Dr Noorul Islam, Public Health specialist Dr. Israrullah, EPI coordinator Dr. Nazir Khan, district director live stock Dr. Nizamuddin, District support Manager of Peoples public health initiative Salahuddin, Educationists, media persons, social workers, teachers and veterinary doctors. They also visited slaughter house which was in a very dilapidated condition and there was no facility for proper disposing off wastages. It was revealed that some butcher slaughter their animal in a very dirty and unhygienic ground out of proper slaughter house. Hence no authority was ready to take responsibility for discouraging these un-healthy practices. The participants strongly recommended from the provincial government for appointing more veterinary doctors and staff for proper checking for slaughter house and shops of butchers and poultries. The participants also stressed upon strengthening district zonotic control committee and highly hailed its efforts for creating awareness among the masses regarding zonotic communicable diseases from animal to human life and from human to animal. At last gifts were distributed among the participants of workshop. A large number of people belonging to all walks of life participated in this fruitful workshop.
