Div Com issues advisory on purchase of migrant property

Srinagar,July 31(Scoop News) -Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Samoon has notified that some land brokers in connivance with some Revenue officials lure intending buyers under the grab of powers of attorney obtained from some migrants and even manage clandestine sale of migrant properties without seeking proper permission of his office which is the competent authority to permit alienation of migrant immovable properties under law thereby not only violating law but also causing great loss to the state exchequer by way of non-payment of the stamp duty fees.
The notification says that on several occasions such power of attorneys for alienations have been withdrawn by the concerned migrant owners of immovable properties in the Kashmir valley. In several cases, it is apprehended that the original migrants may have passed away and fresh power of attorneys need to be obtained from their legal heirs which need to be ascertained from the Relief Commissioner, Migrants and through wide publicity in the media .
In order to check/curb this menace and to streamline such transactions, attorney holding individuals or groups or associations and the public at large is informed through the medium of this public notice that to produce such power of attorneys before his office for further verification about the genuineness/veracity and validity of such documents within a period of one week, the notification adds.
