E-Heads Announce 2nd Reunion Concert

Manila - In a press conference Monday, January 19, members of the defunct Eraserheads, the Philippines' most seminal rock band of the 90's, confirmed that another reunion concert is being planned for March 7 this year, at the concert grounds Of SM Mall Of Asia, in Pasay City.

Facing the press, lead vocalist Ely Buendia, bassist Buddy Zabala, drummer Raimund Marasigan and lead guitarist Marcus Adoro, said the concert is tentatively dubbed as "Final Set", in reference to the original reunion concert held last August 30, 2008 that ended abruptly at the end of the first set when Buendia collapsed backstage and got rushed to the hospital. Buendia, who has a serious heart ailment, was then mourning the death of his mother, who passed away only days before that concert. In Monday's presscon, Buddy Zabala, joked however that his preference for the March concert's title would be "group hug", because it was the most dominant chant coming from fans during the August concert.

MTV Philippines is expected to handle production duties over the March reunion concert, with Smart Communications as it's main co-sponsor.

The Eraserheads first burst into the Filipino music scene with the 1992 release of its debut album ultraelectromagneticpop!, catapulting the band into stardom and signalling the 2nd wave of Pinoy Rock. The success of the E-Heads opened the floodgates for equally-talented but unsigned Pinoy rock bands, like Rivermaya, Teeth, and Yano, to be picked up by major recording labels. The Eraserheads were singled out as responsible for making the 90's one of the most vibrant decades of Filipino pop music. The group, dubbed as "the Beatles of the Philippines", recorded 6 full-length studio albums before Ely Buendia, for still unknown reasons, left the band in mid-2002.
