579 Detained Clergy In Sri Lankan IDP Camps Released

Sri Lanka yesterday freed 579 Hindu and Catholic clergy who were in Internment Camps in North along with the 300,000 Indisplaced Persons.

The Clergy, including 571 Hindu priests, 6 Catholic priests and 2 nuns, were released yesterday at a function held under the Patronage of Special Advisor to the President Mr.Basil Rajapaksha. The released Clergy are allowed to visit their Temples and Churches. These Clergy were detained due to the tight screening to capture the remaining LTTE Rebels in the Northern Sri Lanka after defeat.
