HARRY POTTER GOES TO THEATRE IN TRANSYLVANIA

On the 1st of December 2007, the recently opened LIBRI BOOKS Romania (a famous Hungarian bookshop retail chain, and now the biggest bookshop ever opened in Romania) celebrated the Romanian translation of the last Harry Potter book: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling, with a series of outstanding events, which included: a short theatre performance based on several episodes of the latest book, a magic show, contests between the Wizard Houses and an exciting Quiditch Game.

The children (and their parents) invited to the event were brought to Polus Center Mall (the residence of the LIBRI bookstore) in special buses, that bore the name of "Howgarts Express" and that could be taken from a special place called the 9 3/4 Platform.

Once the children set foot on the LIBRI premises, the wonderful  world of Harry Potter embraced them and transported them to a magical land where everything seemed possible.

The highlight of the event was the 30 minutes theatre performance, conceived by the students of the Faculty of Theatre and Media from Cluj and which took place in open ground, recreating the final battle between the Death Eaters and the Aurors, and, at the end, the final confrontation between Harry and Lord Voldemort.

The children were utterly mesmerised and keen to take part in the confrontation, ready to take the side  of the good wizards. The suspense was even greater as the outcome of the confrotation was decided not to be revealed.

That could only be found out by reading the book, which, at 24:00 sharp, started to be sold to hundreds of curious children.

TheHarry Potter LIBRI BOOKS ROmania event succeeded in achieving its goals (all the books sold out in 2 days !) and, even more, set the standard for high quality book launches and cultural events in the Transylvanian town of Cluj.
