JK CM trying to escape the wrath of the masses :Manhas

Jammu,July 12 (Scoop News) - Having failed to fulfil election promises and provide a corruption free government in the state, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is trying to escape the wrath of the masses by raking up the dead and unnecessary issues with just one motive to divert their attention from the real issues. This was alleged by BJP State President Shamsher Singh Manhas while reacting to CM’s statement that "we can’t allow weakening of J&K’s special status".

Manhas said that even a lay man in the state is of the opinion that the "special status" granted to J&K has only caused harm from the day it was incorporated in the Indian Constitution, still successive governments in the state have used it as a tool to arouse the sentiments of the people in Kashmir by linking it with misleading assumptions. This provision has blocked the inflow of outside investments, erected obstacles in the path of allowing private sector to flourish, which is the main cause of rising unemployment in the state. He said that special provisions in the constitution are being incorporated with a motive to boost development, progress and welfare if it is found that a particular area, particular community or particular region needs special attention or special packages. Unfortunately, special status for J&K was given place in the constitution under personal and appeasing considerations. Who does not know that it was Jawahar Lal Nehru, who, in order to please his friend Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah, used his position to exert pressure for incorporating a clause in the Indian Constitution giving special status to this border state. After facing opposition from various quarters even Nehru had to declare that this special status will erode with the pace of time and a day will come when it will lose its utility.

The BJP Chief said that it is not for the first time that some one from Kashmir has talked of continuance of special status. In the past too, political parties from Kashmir have been misleading the innocent people on the name of special status, said Manhas adding that the Chief Minister should shed this policy of misleading the people and utilise his time and energy in ensuring to resolve the problems of the people by making his government accountable and people friendly.

Re-iterating BJP’s demand for abolition of special status to J&K, Manhas said that this provision has only induced the sense of separatism among the Kashmiris and should be abrogated at the earliest so that the state gets fully integrated with the Indian Union.
