JK Govt. approves development of 18 hole Golf Course at Leh

Srinagar, October 21 (Scoop News) – In a bid to promote Golf Tourism in Ladakh region the government has approved development of 18 hole golf course at Leh Ladakh. The course would be developed at an estimated cost of Rs. 13.93 crore, said Tourism and Culture Minister . Nawang Rigzin Jora while discussing several issues for taking up the development of the course at a high level meeting here today.

Chairman Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) . Rigzin Spalbar was also present in the meeting.

. Jora said this course would add another milestone after completion of 18 holes Sidhra Golf Course Jammu and Gulmarg and Pahlgam Golf Courses in the valley for exploring Golf activities in the state.

The Minister underscored the need for early implementation of the project and impressed upon the concerned officers and Engineers to ensure timely completion of all codal formalities so that the tenders for necessary works of the course would be floated in time.

The Minister also directed the concerned authorities to utilize services of expert officers and Engineers in developing the course, stressed that golf course should be completed in all respects within stipulated time frame fixed by the government.

Commissioner Secretary, Tourism and Culture . Atul Dulloo, Director Tourism Kashmir, . Farooq Ahmed Shah, Special Secretary Tourism, . Altaf Ahmed, besides senior officers and Engineers of Tourism Department attended the meeting.

Director Tourism, Kashmir who is the executing head of the Course briefed the meeting about the initiatives taken by the department for early execution of the project. He assured the meeting that extra care would be taken in developing golf course, for which a team of golf knowing Engineers would be posted full time in Leh.
