Kashmir Divisional Commissioner office to be barrier-free
Srinagar, March 12 (Scoop News) –Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon issued instructions today to Chief Engineer R&B, Kashmir to make Div Com office building accessible for people with disabilities. He gave these instructions when a man on crutches, came to meet him with some grievances and had to struggle to climb the steps leading to Div Com’s room.
Div Com immediately called Ashfaq Rasool, Junior Engineer to his office and directed him to contruct a ramp, so that his room is accessible to people with disabilities.
Chief Engineer R&B Nazir Ahmed, Executive Engineer, R&B 2nd Nisar Ahmed and AEE Tanvir Jahan authorised Junior Engineer Ashfaq Rasool for starting the construction of the ramp and by evening thr ramp was completed.
Div Com has asked all Heads of Departments to ensure that Govt buildings are made barrier free, for the convenience of the disabled.
The Handicapped Association has hailed the decision of Div Com and expressed their hope that other Officers will also follow suit.
Meanwhile a police party headed by SP (City) North, Shokat Hussain, on the instructions of Divisional Commisioner, Kashmir,confiscated five truck loads carrying livestock illegally in contravention of J&K Mutton (Licensing & Control) Order 1973. As per law only Wholesale Licence holders of Mutton are authorised to import mutton. A fine of Rs 12,000 was recovered from the offenders by Director Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution
The President, Anjuman-e- Quraishan Manzoor Ahmed Bawni and Butcher’s Union Srinagar has hailed the action taken by Administration.
