Lendl hoping to Phil his boots

"It was a pretty flat batting track and I enjoyed it," said Lendl Simmons.

"I know my uncle played here a few years ago and I also played here for the A team a few years ago and I enjoyed it - it was a good feeling.

"I haven't had a chance to talk to him just yet because he's been with the Ireland team in South Africa, but hopefully when he gets back I'll have a chat to him.

"When I was young I used to look up to him as a West Indies player and he helped me when I was younger in the under-15s and under-17s."

"It was important I made a good start to the tour," he admitted. "I've taken this warm-up game very seriously and I wanted to make a good show of myself.

"I have been looking forward to this series, particularly the first Test at Lord's and I'm feeling in good nick."
