President of Mauritania Deposed in a Coup
President of Mauritania was deposed in a coup after forcefully removing top army officials. President guardmen seized Mauritanian President Sidi Mohamed Ould Cheikh Abdallahi.

Former presidential guard chief Mohamed Ould Abdelaziz, said that Abdallahi is now former president. Abdelaziz is one of the sacked officers. He also cancelled previous decree of Mauritian President by which the president sacked top army officers.
The state council is also Led by Abdelaziz.
Abdallahi won election last year and become president of Mauritania.
The security agents of the BASEP (Presidential Security Battalion) came to our home around 9.20 (5:20 a.m. EDT) and took away my father," Amal Mint Cheikh Abdallahi, the president's daughter, told Reuters.
