Mega urban development projects launched



      Jammu, January 25 (Scoop News) –    Calling support of all stake holders for better urban planning, Deputy Chief Minister  Tara Chand said citizens have to join hands with government and play constructive role in the mission to develop urban centres of state in tune with the needs of burgeoning urbanization. Urban planning has to address the needs of cross-section of society and come up to the expectations of modern day requirements, he added.


      He said rapid growth of urban population has created new challenges for the government and all out efforts have been launched to address the requirements of urban population. 


      “With active support of central government, mega urban infrastructure development projects have been launched under JNNURM in the state and major cities would soon be having all required modern facilities,” he added. 


      Deputy Chief Minister was addressing an interactive session organised by Chamber of Commerce and Industries at Chamber house.


      Minister for Medical Education, Technical Education and YSS Er. R.S. Chib, Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation  Raman Bhalla and MLA, Jammu East  Ashok Khajuria, were present in the session.


      President, CCI  Y.V. Sharma conducted the proceedings and prominent citizens and business men of the state participated in the event.


       Tara Chand said government is steadfast on its commitment of all round development and efforts at highest level have been initiated to address problems of all sections of society.


      Underlining need for futuristic planning,  R.S. Chib said due to rapid urbanisation, facilities in urban centres need to be developed and fine -tuned with the modern requirements. Urban planning has to cater the needs of growing commercial, industrial and residential activities, he added.


      While addressing the session,  Raman Bhalla said development of all three regions of the state is priority of the government and work on the road map to development is already apace. He said capital cities of the state would be developed into mega-cities on the pattern of Gurgoan and other such metros, adding that balanced development approach has to be followed so that interests of all sections of society are watched.
