Now a hotel- The Kabini River Lodge

 Karapur Forest, Kabini

Circular basket-shaped boats are available to paddle in the water waterways

They were once the local for several Kheddas and the old princely hunting lodge

Perennially green and very dense, these forests lie on their side of the Kabini River. They were once the local for several Kheddas and the old princely hunting lodge, now a hotel –the Kabini River Lode- still offers good food and comfortable accommodation with an old-world aura. The forests are rich in wildlife. In addition, watchtowers and hides have been built for the viewing of elusive species. Circular basket-shaped boats are available to paddle in the water waterways.

Kaiwara

The main attractions are the beautiful temples dedicated to the Pancha Pandava, the five brothers of the Mahabharata. Especially lovely is the Amarnarayana temple with its shrine of Bhimeswara, where Bhima, the strongest brother of the Pandavas, is supposed to have installed a Shiva Linga. The Samadhi of the saint Narnappa, author of the prothetic Kala Gana, is also in the temple.

 Kaidal

There is a superb Chennakesava temple here, where the sanctum remains lit by the Sun all through the day. This is achieved by a strategically positioned window in the Garuda (eagle) shrine which lies in front of the temple.
