Power curtailment rescheduled during Ramadan in Kashmir
Srinagar,July 25 (Scoop News) - In order to give relief to the people during the holy month of Ramadan, the Chief Engineer, M&RE has rescheduled the power curtailment programme.
As per the new schedule there will be a power cut once in a week from 7 pm to 11pm in the unmetered areas. Previously the cut was thrice a week. The Department has given relief to the people during the Sehri timing and restricted the power curtailment for three hours from 3 am to 6 am only once in a week, earlier the restrictions were 10 pm to 5 am twice a week.
During the holy month of Ramadan the department has made available 10 percent extra energy to the consumers. Meanwhile the department has requested the consumers to make judicious use of electricity, especially during the Sehri and Iftaar timings enabling the department to improve power scenario. The consumers have been requested to restrict their heating load like heaters, boilers and geysers during Sehari and Iftaar hours to ensure availability of power during peak hours.
