Pulsating Yaletown Nightlife in Vancouver, British Columbia

So what are you going to do in Yaletown tonight?  Lots!

First, a few important things about this neighborhood in Vancouver.  Prior to 1986, Yaletown used to be the city’s warehouse district, but since then it has undergone a rather miraculous transformation into a plush neighborhood teeming with high-rise apartments.

Thus, it’s expensive to live in Yaletown these days, because you’re paying for the cost of that massive urban facelift.  Another reason is because you’re right at the heart of downtown, and close to all the amenities you can imagine.  Just imagine living along Robson Street, referred by many as the equivalent of L.A.’s Rodeo Drive.

Shopping galore aside, how about you grab a great dinner first before you sample the refreshing and vibrant Yaletown nightlife.  It’s a nightlife like no other.  Be prepared to meet loads of interesting people, especially if you consider yourself one of Vancouver’s yuppies, or young urban professionals.

And in case you didn’t know, Yaletown is actually part of what is referred to loosely as Vancouver downtown. Yaletown is neatly boxed by False Creek, and Robson and Homer Streets.  Hence, one area to inaugurate your great Yaletown nighttime adventure is the intersection of Homer and Robson Streets, which is punctuated with the architectural marvel that is the Vancouver Public Library, designed by no less than Moshe Safdie.

You can sit around the library’s patio to get some sun, or even to get noticed by cool passersby just as the night descends upon Vancouver.  Be sure to wear a distinctive white long-sleeved shirt, untucked, over your favorite jeans brand.  Maybe you’ll want to have a shot of espresso at one of the most popular Starbucks station just in front, or sample the best Ebi tempura there is, just beside the coffee shop.

If you haven’t met anyone interesting yet, which is highly unlikely, unless your pick up line sucks; you can probably pass the time watching a Vancouver Canucks hockey game which usually starts rolling on Halloween day.  Way to go to pass the time!

You might feel just a little bit hungry after all the excitement of the games especially if you’re a die hard hockey fan, so you may want to fill up in one of Yaletown’s never-second-best food establishments.  Unless you found Japanese rice too filling or popcorn too bloating, you might want to have a real dinner.  And here’s the scoop:

Yaletown is holding its Taste of Yaletown fest from October 15 to 31, 2009.  What’s in this for you?  Well, for starters, Yaletown’s hottest dining spots will offer special 3-course menus, taste-test included.  So how’s that for that healthy appetite of yours?

Sooner or later, you’re likely to yearn for some beer, so what better place to go get this than at the Yaletown Brewing Company at 1111 Mainland Street? It’s a nice place too, to ogle at a hot chick wearing her brother’s red baseball cap.  Of course, most chicks go to the Yaletown Gelato & Espresso Bar, in groups that is.  Nothing works like sweets to bring out the chicks, and this is true in Yaletown just as anywhere else.

However, you are likely to encounter a problem with making the babe you’re eyeing separate from the herd, so-to-speak.  You’re not trying to catch a deer, but if your legs are strong, you’re best bet is to dance the prey out.

Bar None Enterprises is top of mind, located at 1222 Hamilton Street. But if you’re a hardcore dancer who can keep at your grooves until way past midnight, then ClubZone’s for you, at 1040 Hamilton Street.  And if you haven’t caught Cinderella by this time, it is doubtful that anything will.

For the fact is, Yaletown’s nightlife can be wild like no other.  There are not only peerless places to have a great dinner, but clubs that can bring out the hunter in you.  The only other thing you’ll probably need is National Geographic documentaries on animal hunting, which you might want to brush up on during the day.
