With six weeks left in La Liga, Real Madrid are still in first place amid their inconsistent play.   With Villarreal and Barcelona waiting in the wings, their lead could shrink.  Villarreal seem to have the upper hand since they do not have to play either the Merengues or Blaugrana.  Meanwhile the Barça and Madrid matchup in week 36 will most likely define the title.
