SRSP completed 200 KV hydro power house
200 KV micro hydropower station inaugurated by SRSP.
CHITRAL: Inauguration ceremony of 200 KV hydropower house was held at Bumborat of Kalash Valley. The power house was competed by Sarhad Rural support Program (SRSP) with financial aid of Australian government. Miss Shandana Khan Chief Executive Officer of Rural Support Program Network (RSPN) was chief guest on the occasion while Chief Executive of SRSP Shahzada Masoodul Mulk, Peter Oborne Chief Political commentator of Daily telegraph London and elites of the area were also present on the occasion. Addressing on the occasion Masoodul Mulk said that SRSP invited foreign team who visited the area and analyzed that these people facing acute shortage of power supply so that is why they donated 20 million grant for construction of this 200 Kilowatt power house. Its beneficiaries are 800 and it is a social enterprises base project. Local community will take over the power house and will be responsible for its maintenance. some 2000 will be charged per consumer for meter and connection fee. Abdul Majeed Qureshi former Nazim of this Union council thanked Australian government for donating a huge amount through SRSP for launching this power house which was long awaited demand of these people. He also demanded for launching more developmental schemes in this neglected area. Peter Oborne also thanked Australian government for funding of this project which will bring positive changes in lives of these people. Elites of the area also highly hailed efforts of SRSP for construction of power house as in past the area was deprived from light and people of the area were facing numerous problems due to no power supply by Wapda. They said that this is not only a power house which will provide light to its consumers but it will bring an revolution in this area because these people will use electric appliances, computer, internet etc. They said that it will also support for conservation of forest because in past people of the area were using wood for light, heating and cooking purposes. At last Kalash people also presented cultural show in honor of their guests who enthralled them. A large number of people of the entire valley participated in inauguration ceremony. Residents of the area were very happy and expressing their pleasure because the power house will also overcome energy crises in the valley.
