Sample Interview Questions for Teachers



I have compiled sample interview questions for those who are dreaming for an international career in teaching specially in the U.S.  I suggest that you prepare answers to many of these questions in advance.  There is no guarantee that the school will ask any of the following, but these are among the most commonly asked questions at interviews.


 


  1. Why do you want to come to United State to be a teacher?
  2. Do you have a teaching certificate?
  3. What are your strengths?
  4. What are your weaknesses?
  5. When will you be available to work in the US?
  6. Do you prefer any work location in the US?
  1. Did you take any course preparing you a teacher?
  2. How would you describe your work ethic?
  3. Give examples of how you are a part of the school team?
  4. How do you support your colleagues?
  5. Describe a lesson you taught that you felt was very success for the student. Why do you think it was a success?
  6. Describe your style of teaching.
  7. Describe a daily schedule for (whatever age level or subject teaching)
  8. How do you enforce discipline?
  9. What do you think is the best way to communicate with parent?
  10. What was your most negative communication with a parent?
  11. What was your most positive experience in the classroom?
  12. In what ways do teachers show a willingness to help students who have difficulties?
  13. Why is good classroom control important for teaching and learning
  14. How would you handle a student who refuses to work in your class?
  15. In what type of situation would you involve the principal for assistance
  16. Name two or three skills essential in helping students learn
  17. Talk about your ability to introduce or begin a lesson
  18. How do you reinforce major concepts or ideas that you want students to Learn?
  19. What are some ways that teachers can be helpful to the slow learner?
  20. Describe the set up of your classroom.  How does it look?
  21. What do the walls of your classroom look like?
  22. How do you incorporate technology in your lessons?
  23. What do you do outside of the classroom to provide support for your students?
  24. Do you have any questions for me? ***

 


***Most interviewers will conclude their interview by asking this question.  If they do, it is an excellent idea to ask them several questions, as this shows that you are interested in the school.
