Senatorial Scion's Sinecure Shortened

Former Democrat Assemblyman Pedro G. Espada was hired August 6th as deputy director of intergovernmental relations at US$120,000 per year as I reported and commented on previously http://groundreport.com/articles.php?id=2905650 Adult Children Of Legislators Feed At Taxpayers Expense.  Today, he is expected to resign his post after coming under criticism for his appointment. 

His father, Senator Pedro Espada Jr. is the Democrat Majority Leader of the New York State Senate.  The Republicans rewarded Espada with a leadership post for returning control of the State Senate to them after they lost their majority in last November's elections.  The Democrats termed this the Albany coup, although we hear no such complaints when Republicans vote to give Democrats control. The Democrats rewarded  Espada with the majority leader's post for switching back.   In New York, the Senate Majority leader controls the appointments of committee chairs, the so-called member item appropriations and all legislative business.  

Since June 1st there have been four Senate Majority Leaders: Republican Dean Skelos and Democrats Malcolm Smith, John Sampson and Pedro Espada Jr. 

The Senate Republicans and Democrats are equally looters and hypocrites.  What New Yorkers need to do is to elect Libertarians www.ny.lp.org.  -30-
