Supreme sacrifices of police martyrs always be remembered: DG
Khoda was speaking at a function organized at Police Auditorium here today to honour the families of police martyrs. The function was organized in collaboration with J&K Rural Sports Club. He said that the sacrifices of brave jawans and officers of police Organization have helped to restore peace in the State and these sacrifices can never be forgotten. It is because of their sacrifices that the people of the State are feeling secure in a peaceful atmosphere, he added. He said that the department has undertaken several schemes for the welfare of the families of these martyrs which include special welfare relief of Rs. 6 lakhs and ex-gratia relief of Rs. 5 lakhs besides financial assistance under Savera Scheme. He said that the education of the wards of these martyrs has remained our priority and to promote quality education among these wards, the department is providing free education to them besides providing boarding and lodging facilities in the Police-Public Schools established in
The DGP said that although sacrifices of these martyrs can not be compensated materially still it is our moral responsibility to assist the families of martyrs. He said that the police Organization is always in touch with martyrs families and our Nodal Officers visit them to know their welfare and necessary feedback is obtained at district, range, zone and PHQ level. He stressed to maintain close rappo with these families so that they do not feel themselves ignored.
Khoda emphasised upon the social organisations to come forward and assist the martyrs families. He said that it is the social responsibility of civil society to guide the wards of these martyrs towards a brighter future. He said in the present scenario the Non-Governmental organizations have an important role to play for the welfare of wards of martyrs. Social activist Sardar Surinder Singh Chani, who was present in the function appreciated the welfare measures of police organization for mitigating the requirements of wards of martyrs. He said that the martyrs have offered supreme sacrifices for a noble cause and the society has to honour to their sacrifices.
