Two US Navy vessels collide in strait of Hormuz



Manama, Bahrain: Two US navy vessels, a nuclear-powered submarine and an amphibious ship collided early in the morning of Friday, in the strait of Horumz between Iran and the Arabian peninsula, the US Navy's 5th fleet reported.


It was around 1:00 AM, local time on Friday when the USS Hartford, a submarine and the USS New Orleans, an amphibious ship collided, the US military said in a statement.


According to Bahrain based 5th fleet, 15 sailors aboard the hartford were slightly injured but managed to return to duty.


However, no injuries were reported aboard the new Orleans.


The both ships were heading to port and were going in the same direction when the incident occured in the narrow strait.
