USA ARRIVES..... 2010 FIFA WORLD CUP
The 2010 FIFA World Cup Organising Committee South Africa (OC) would like to welcome the national team of the United States of America, who arrived in the country for the tournament this afternoon (31 May) at OR Tambo International Airport.
“The USA won the hearts of many South Africans when they made it to the final of the FIFA Confederations Cup last year and we welcome them back to South Africa. With over 136,000 tickets already sold to their fans, the USA will be followed by many passionate fans in the coming weeks,” said Jordaan.
“Obviously for us it’s different to other teams. We have been here before, we have played in these conditions. The players know what to expect. It’s good to be back in South Africa again. What I can say is that the team is ready to get started here. This World Cup is in winter - that means it’s going to be cold. That is good for football, because that means teams are going to play at a high pace and temperament,” said USA coach, Bob Bradley.
“We will be playing at the same stadiums, same cities, so that means we will confront the same conditions. So far the preparations have been good. We respect everyone in our group, we have some good teams. It’s going to be a tough group, but we have to be ready. We have enough time between now and 12 June to acclimatise. I think it’s going to be a great World Cup,” continued Bradley.
The USA will open their 2010 FIFA World Cup campaign against England in Rustenburg on 12 June and then travel to Johannesburg’s Ellis Park Stadium to face Slovenia on 18 June. Their final Group Match will be against Algeria in Tshwane/Pretoria on 23 June.

The 2010 FIFA World Cup Organising Committee South Africa (OC) would like to welcome the national team of England, who arrived in the country this morning (3 June) for the 2010 FIFA World Cup™.
“It is a great privilege to be able to welcome England to our shores. England are one of the teams with a great FIFA World Cup tradition, with fanatical support wherever they play and at the World Cup in particular. Tickets for England matches have proved to be very popular and the Three Lions’ participation in the tournament is sure to add a great deal to the character of the event,” said Chief Executive Officer of the OC, Dr Danny Jordaan.
“I’m very pleased to be here and my team is happy to finally be in South Africa. I hope this World Cup in South Africa is good for this country and of course for England. We now have to concentrate on the tournament and prepare well for the event,” said England coach, Fabio Capello, on his arrival at Johannesburg’s OR Tambo International Airport this morning.
England will open their World Cup campaign at Rustenburg’s Royal Bafokeng Stadium against the United States on 12 June, before making the trip to Cape Town to face Algeria on 18 June. Their final Group Match will be against Slovenia in Nelson Mandela Bay/Port Elizabeth on 23 June.
