Yemen “objection” with Multinational NAVY

China, 05/12

China People Liberation Army Navy Force sent out their war vessels to Somali Coast as a part of multinational task force in securing the merchant vessels from hijacking by pirate. Military options are still in discussion to suppress the pirate action. Do they need to take any military operation or negotiation process could end the pirate activities? At what scale of military operation and involving how many troops to secure the sea? The talk on the air and sea raid at the pirate base has begun few weeks ago after the intelligence succeeded gathering the militant and pirate base at Somalia. Few days ago, the pirate attempted to hijack a passenger cruising ship. But their intention ended failed after Denmark navy frigate succeed to expel them returning to their base.

More various ship which not just merchant ships but also passenger cruising ship will be targeted for hijacking by the pirate for a large ransom. This year according to the media, Pirate succeed collecting ransom about US$ 1, 5 billion.

But there is just one that I’m concerning about, what if the pirate succeed hijacking one of the military vessels with full of active weapon onboard.

Singapore, 24/11

Somalia citizen is never feel objection with pirates standing on their soil. The statement result came out after interviewing with local citizen. Pirate attendant on the soil is increasing their business prospect as long as they don’t kill and make wars on the city.

Due to the multinational security plan, the pirates said that they will make counter attack if the multinational forces are starting fire at them.

The world requested UN to take a significant action at the pirate activities at Somali Coast.

In Asia, concerning on pirates activities are also awake. According to sea maritime expert in Singapore yesterday, the pirates in Asia might follow Somali pirate operational tactics and strategy if there is no significant action to prevent. He said that Malacca Strait is among the busiest strait getting through by merchant ship around the world that connected to east and west. The expert didn’t mention his name said that hijacking business is 'low risk and high return' profile. Read more at previous articles.

It doesn’t mean Yemen dislike to annihilate the pirates which operate within their area. But they concern the Multinational Navy vessel might interrupt their national integrity. Since the pirate action become a large concern in Somalia off coast, more and more vessels sail on the area is being hijacked. The vessels with crew onboard were brought trading cargo. And one of the vessels which the pirates detain up to now is carrying a heavy arms and tanks onboard for Kenya Armed Forces. The latest ship is carrying about 2 billion barrel of oil for America. Inadequate ransom has failed to free the merchant ships up to now. Only a few has been release after full ransom is paid.

Now, the pirates action became widen and had operated outside the Somalia Coast. Few amounts of NATO and EU NAVY frigate and warship have been patched and patrol in the area. But the pirates intense to rob and hijack sailing ship are still high. Somalia temporary government is unable to handle the situation and request for multinational assistance to solve this sea pirate problem.

United States Navy had also made a sea patrol on the area, but Russia yesterday said that want a real action to punish the pirate and control the safety of the merchant ships in crossing the sea. They proposed to develop a joint military task force to attack the pirate base near Somalia Coast. The location of the pirates headquarter has been plotted on the map by the Intelligence in this few days.

However, there is a concerned if multinational forces make an attack to the pirate bases could put those detain merchant ships in danger. Everything could be happened. The pirates are killing the crew onboard until sinking the ships to the bottom of the sea.
